For my final semester design project, I developed a head-up display using design methodologies. The devices interfaced with a riding simulator through a custom communication algorithm.

My role

For my final study project, I independently crafted and developed the prototype product.

Research design methods

This head-up displays has been based on motorcyclists’ narrative inquires, bull eye’s diagram design methods and surveys. It was first validated with user-test performed on a early based wizard of oz prototype.

Hardware

The prototype consisted of a raspberry pi projecting the image via a screen The set-up consists of a small screen connected to a Raspberry Pi, a mirror, an optical lens and a combiner. The image displayed by the screen is reflected by the combiner to the user’s eye. The simulator used for futher user testing communicated via custom protocols to send the information directly to the hud, compute system.
